Feeling unappreciated?

Things Got Ya Down? Well Then, Consider These . . ...

In a hospital's Intensive Care Unit, patients always died in the same bed, on Sunday morning, at about 11:00 am , regardless of their medical condition. This puzzled the doctors and some even thought it had something to do with the super natural. No one could solve the mystery as to why the deaths occurred around 11:00 AM Sunday, so a worldwide team of experts was assembled to investigate the cause of the incidents. The next Sunday morning, a few minutes before 11:00 AM all of the doctors and nurses nervously waited outside the ward to see for themselves what the terrible phenomenon was all about. Some were holding wooden crosses, prayer books, and other holy objects to ward off the evil spirits.. Just when the clock struck 11:00 , Pookie Johnson, the part-time Sunday sweeper, entered the ward and unplugged the life support system so he could use the vacuum cleaner.

Still Having a Bad Day????

The average cost of rehabilitating a seal after the Exxon Valdez Oil spill in Alaska was $80,000.00. At a special ceremony, two of the most expensively saved animals were being released back into the wild amid cheers and applause from onlookers. A minute later, in full view, a killer whale ate them both.

Still think you are having a Bad Day????

A woman came home to find her husband in the kitchen shaking frantically, almost in a dancing frenzy, with some kind of wire running from his waist towards the electric kettle. Intending to jolt him away from the deadly current, she whacked him with a handy plank of wood, breaking his arm in two places. Up to that moment, he had been happily listening to his Walkman.

Are Ya OK Now? - No?

Two animal rights defenders were protesting the cruelty of sending pigs to a slaughterhouse in Bonn , Germany .. Suddenly, all two thousand pigs broke loose and escaped through a broken fence, stampeding madly.. The two helpless protesters were trampled to death.

What?!? STILL having a Bad Day????

Iraqi terrorist Khay Rahnajet did not pay enough postage on a letter bomb. It came back with 'Return to Sender' stamped on it. Forgetting it was the bomb, he opened it and was blown to bits. Karma

Interviews

I've been thinking about what to do with my blog recently and I'm going back to basics. I started this blog with the intention of promoting myself but also spotlighting other writers to help them promote their work.

I'm not the most adept at promotion and I know, from talking with a lot of you, I'm not alone. It's sometimes uncomfortable to ask, and I've been so grateful for those who have interviewed me or spread the word about my writing, I want to return the favor.

So if you have a book or event you'd like me to showcase, please, contact me either via email or by leaving a comment.

I'd love to interview you or one of your characters or just showcase your beautiful cover and a blurb.

Let me know.

Lynne

Repetition

The other day I was cleaning out a few drawers and I ran across the notebook I'd used when I edited First Date's galleys. The first time. In it, I wrote repeated words and the pages on which you could find them. Some of the pages are crossed out with the replacement words written above them. I thought I'd share this with you because, well, I found it interesting and as an example of how writers are always learning. Thank God. It also made me want to kiss Lori and TWRP for taking a chance on me in the first place.

Keep in mind, First Date is only 11K or so.

As: 20 times
Pull: 17 times
Throb: 10
Walls: 12 (3 on one page)
Felt: 10

Some other repeat words were moan, groan, brush and pussy with 5 to 8 uses each, but spaced too close together.

The good news is the galley for After Hours didn't have nearly as many repetitions. (Elle gasped a lot in the first couple of drafts)

Things like this are visible markers that I am learning my craft and, hopefully, improving every day.

Do you ever look back at books you've written and marvel at how much you've learned?

Monday's Pick-me-up

Hello, ladies.

This should get your Monday off to a good start.

I mean would you look at that... jawline? : )

A Love Affair

Social media and I have a love/hate relationship. Well, maybe that’s not true, but it’s a relationship suffering from neglect—on my part.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Social media and I completely enjoy the time we spend together. I just can’t seem to find the time to satisfy it. It’s not that it’s demanding, okay, it is, but I knew that going in. There are just too many aspects of our relationship, it’s overwhelming at times.

Myspace is sadly neglected, I haven’t even seen it in months but I justified that with the fact I have two Facebook accounts. Truth be told, my daughter has taken over one of those accounts and other? Well, I connected it to my Twitter account so it could at least get to display the occasional tweet. Secondhand attention, I know.

But then I haven’t spent much time with Twitter lately either.

Is the affair waning?

No. I love Social media as much as I always have and I’m jealous of those writers who seem to write, edit and have a full, satisfying relationship with Social media. I’m afraid I just don’t have the skills it takes to juggle everything.

I haven’t even mentioned how neglected my blogs are feeling lately, and my website. Oh, my. I hope you’re visiting it, because I just haven’t had the chance.

Yesterday, I was eyeing the link to Romance Divas with yearning. It’s been too long since we spent time together and I barely got to know Coffeetime Romance, but I know we could hit it off. Goodreads? I think Goodreads isn’t speaking to me any longer. I get the occasional update but I haven’t had a chance to reply in so long, I fear the relationship has faltered.

I know every relationship requires time and effort, and perhaps I’m just not stretching myself quite thin enough. I've seriously considered taking a class to get to know Social media better. Maybe I'm just not using my time wisely.

Enough of about me. How is your relationship with Social media?

Monday's Pick-me-up

For those of you of the rocker era:

Title? I have to come up with a title too?

Have you ever gotten to that point where you’re so far behind with everything, you start daydreaming about ways to freeze time for everybody but you so you can catch up? Or is that just me?

Okay, well, how about you start wishing you didn’t have to sleep—and seriously contemplate how much sleep you really need—so you have more hours in the day to get done what needs to be done?

Yeah, well.

After walking around like a zombie for a few days, I’ve decided that I really do need sleep. Not sleeping is counter-productive because, damn it, my creative brain freezes right on up or perhaps goes to sleep without me.

And I haven’t found a way to freeze time yet, but if I ever do, you‘ll know because those edits will be done in record time, that new rough draft will be written, my house will be clean, your blogs will have been read and commented, I’ll have painted my toenails so I can finally wear those sandals and my garden will be free of weeds.

Until then, please bear with me and know, even though I haven’t commented on your blogs, or posted any of mine, I’m thinking of all of you and wishing you well.

I’ve been contemplating the merits of clones too.
