Monday's Pick-me-up

Happy Memorial Day everyone!

I'd like to thank all of those who fought and sacrificed for our country. In particular, my grandfather, who fought in WWII and my sister who served in the Navy. Your dedication should be remembered.

And for those of you who have come to expect a little eye candy on Mondays. I won't disappoint you either.

Monday's Pick-me-up

A little late... (I have two sick kiddos at home) but worth waiting for:

Five Fun Facts

Here are five fun--okay, maybe interesting--facts about After Hours

Five fun facts about After Hours

1. Before I have a name for a character, sometimes I call them he or she. I was almost ready to submit After Hours but still didn’t have a name for the female main character so I switched all the she’s to Elle, which is she in French.

2. After Hours was originally titled Overtime.

3. Elle is in accounting because that was my day job before I started writing full time. I’ve actually tabulated those gas receipts, folks.

4. After Hours contains my first ever male masturbation scene. Via email, my editor suggested I insert a masterbation scene to spice things up a bit. I stressed for about a week, interviewed a male friend and well... Um... how did I do?

5. The dialog between Elle and David at the Christmas party was one of those moments when the characters take the bit and run with it. But boy did I have fight for that Christmas tie afterward.

Johnny Loves Krissy
by KyAnn Waters

This one looks HOT! And the cover sizzles.

Kristina Taylor's biological clock just went off. She has endometriosis. Now “who's your baby's daddy” just took on a completely new meaning. A brilliant plan for conception includes her hot best friend Johnny Huston. Taking him to bed won’t be a hardship—if she can only get him to play by her rules. After all, she wants to maintain their friendship. Not easy if he ends up being the best sex of her life.

Knock her up? Krissy has to be crazy. Or is she? Johnny has loved her since high school. Her plan might not include life after baby. His does. But how is he going to show her how good they can be together with all her rules—no kissing, no touching, no caressing. He can make love to her, but she’s determined not to enjoy it. To hell with that and to hell with her rules. He’s determined to show her friendship is the best foundation for a relationship.

But there are always complications…

With Johnny, Krissy is afraid to look to the future. Right now, she can’t get enough of the present, and she dreads the thought of losing what she’s had with him in the past.

Excerpt:

The tension shifted in the room. Johnny’s breathing changed. Before Krissy’s heart had a chance to skip a beat, Johnny pinned her against the wall. Hot and demanding, his lips found and parted hers. His tongue snaked into her mouth. Tasting. Savoring. Stroking the texture, he sucked on her tongue while pulling a moan from her chest.

“Kissing is against the rules,” she said, arching her body closer to his. Angling her hips, she nestled his incredibly hard cock in the apex of her legs. Heat bloomed in her pussy, and her clit ached. Flutters swarmed in her tummy and desire, white hot and intense, surged through her. She moaned when his palm found her breast and his thumb stroked across the peak. Her nipple tightened to the point of pain. She needed more. “Oh, and so is touching.”

Johnny understood her plea and pulled the tie behind her neck. The top fell forward. With insistent lips, he tasted his way down her neck, feathering kisses over her collarbone, until he latched onto her nipple. Krissy moaned and sagged against the wall. His velvety tongue rasped over her taut tip. Sensation streaked, like lightning, down her spine and centered in her clit. Moisture slicked her folds, knowing the pleasure Johnny could rain on her body.

Opening wide, he closed his mouth over her breast, encasing her sensitive peak in warm, wet heat. Working the flesh with his jaw, his tongue flicked the tip. Electric shocks reverberated. Chills broke along her arms as her body warmed. Both shivering and melting.

“Watch out the window.” Johnny stepped away from her and shut the laundry room door. “It doesn’t lock,” he said, coming back to her.

The dark, dangerous gleam in his eyes sucked the breath from her lungs. Dipping his head, he kissed her again. Then she was lost.

Ah Duh!

Ever have one of those 'duh' moments? Well, I just did. Why?

How in the world did I not know my books were for sale on Amazon?

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

Five Fun Facts About Maintaining your Weight

Well, I tried and failed to do 13 Thursdays... too many things... So I thought why not five facts? I can come up with five of almost anything... I think : )Today I thought I'd share five tips about how to maintain your weight. I use all five of these quite often.... um, well, yeah. : )

1. When making brownies or cake, don’t use the mixer. Stir that batter by hand. I don’t mean a wimpy hand mixer; I mean get that wooden spoon out and stir, baby. This burns whatever calories you would consume when eating the finished product. Right?

2. Never, never, ever give in to your own craving. Buy one for your child instead and then teach him or her the value of sharing. Which, as we know, is an important life skill. Besides, we all know, there are no calories if it’s not yours.

3. Walk as you eat. This is a no brainer. Not only are you actually exercising as you eat, chances are, the calories won’t catch up to you.

4. If you’re eating chocolate like... I don’t know a handful of chocolate chips or M & Ms, add a teaspoon of peanut butter. We all know protein is good for you and will help you metabolize sugar and hey, peanut butter has protein. The fact that it goes really well with chocolate is just an added bonus.

5. Now this is a super seekrit trick I’ve used for years. Add a packet of maple and brown sugar instant oatmeal to your chocolate chip cookie recipe. Not only does this give it an excellent subtle flavor, it adds fiber to the cookies and, you know, that makes them good for you.

Coming Soon from The Wilder Rose Press

Emerald Ecstasy by Lara Dien will be released on April 16th. 2010. Oh you know how I love a hero in a kilt. : )

Blurb:

Tansy Robertson is in Ireland hunting ghosts—and a fortune—in a haunted castle when her childhood crush Charlie McCullough strides into the foyer, looking sexy and dangerous as ever in a kilt. Her worries of how to keep warm in a drafty castle are cast aside as he tutors her in more than Irish folklore. But when time runs out and an ocean threatens to separate them once again, can the memories of Emerald Ecstasy be enough?

Excerpt:

“May I help you?”

Tansy turned. There stood one of the most gorgeous men she’d ever seen. Wearing a kilt in a red plaid she recognized as her family’s, he looked much better in it than any of her male relatives ever had. Tansy’s brain promptly short-circuited. She couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think, could only look. And it was all she could do to drag her eyes away from muscular legs to the rest of him. Longish, dark brown hair, cobalt blue eyes, a sinful mouth.

His broad shoulders and chest weren’t the least concealed by the white open-necked shirt he wore. Dark hair peeked from the neck opening, and her fingers itched to dive in, to explore the contrast between linen shirt and solid male, to see whether the dark curls were soft or crisp, to...did Irishmen wear anything under their kilts? Or was that a Scottish thing? His hands looked strong and capable, and big enough that they could cup a breast and... Her eyes went back up to his face. He was staring at her with undisguised interest, not to mention a bit of amusement. He couldn’t possibly know what she’d been thinking, could he?

“Do I pass?”

Tansy ran her tongue over her suddenly dry lips, and didn’t miss it when his gaze dropped like a rock to her mouth. Suddenly the sweater she wore was too warm.

“Umm. Sorry, I just...” There was nothing she could say that would make her look less of an idiot. Are you wearing anything under that kilt? She started again. “I wanted to find out when the tour would be over. I thought he,” she jerked a thumb behind her in the general direction of Mr. Tweed, “would know how long it takes.”

“He wouldn’t. To my knowledge he’s never been here before.”

“Oh. Well, in that case...” Tansy turned to go before she said something she really wanted to say and would be really embarrassed by. Like, are you wearing anything under that kilt. Serious one-track-mind problem here. She was stopped by a large, very warm hand landing on her shoulder, sending a delicious tingle down her arm. Her back. Her breasts.

“I, however, know this castle...intimately.”

Monday's Pick-me-up

I thought this Monday called for a distinguished man in a suit. : )
