Book ReviewL Dead, Undead, or Somewhere in Between

It’s always difficult to begin reading a book written by someone you know and like, so when I picked up Dead, Undead or Somewhere in Between, (from now on referred to as DUSB because although I love the title, I'm really, really lazy.) I was a little nervous. I didn’t need to be.

From the first line, I was drawn in to JA Saare’s world. But what stood out the most to me was the characterization. Jaime writes complex, engaging and real people. Even now, 2 weeks after reading the book, I find myself thinking of Rhiannon and Disco.

I know the second book is being written and I’m sending good vibes to Jaime in the hopes everything turns out okay. I know she’s going to torture them like any good writer will, but I want these two to find happiness. That’s saying a lot.

The second thing was the ending. DUSB did not end with a typical HEA and I applaud both the author and the publisher for that. It did end with a scene that made you want to pick up the next book and read to find out what happens next. In my mind, that makes this book a success.

And JA Saare will be in my hot seat this Friday so stop by and say hi!

Blurb:
One bad corpse can ruin your whole day.

No one knows that better than Rhiannon Murphy.
She left behind the flash and sass of Miami for the no-nonsense groove of New York City, eager for a clean slate and a fresh start. A bartender by trade, a loud mouth by choice, and a necromancer by chance; she managed to keep her nifty talent hidden from those around her—until now.

The deliciously good-looking vampire, Disco, knows her secret. When he strolls into her bar to solicit help investigating the mysterious disappearances of his kind from the city, Rhiannon discovers he’s not the kind of person that appreciates the significance of the word no.

But in a world where vampires peddle their blood as the latest and greatest drug of choice, it’s only a matter of time before the next big thing hits the market. Someone or something is killing vampires to steal their hearts, and unlike Rhiannon, this isn’t their first stroll around the undead block.

Lynne!!

Thank you so much for reading and reviewing Dead. I'm so glad you liked the story and there is more to come.

I was honestly shocked that I was allowed to keep the ending, but I'm very glad I was. Some people love it, others hate it -- which I understand.

Either way, The Renfield Syndrome is currently underway!
