Monday's Pick-me-up

IT'S HERE!!!

Look what I found in my email this afternoon!

Squeee. : )

Hear that sound? That's me doing the happy dance.

Okay, enough frivolity, back to the last round of edits.

Releasing Today! Fatal Exposure by Lia Slater

Recently, when I was browsing the Wilder Rose Press site, I came across FATAL EXPOSURE. The cover caught my attention, but the blurb roped me in.

Fatal Exposure
Scarlet Rose
Lia Slater

Release date: September 25, 2009

Deception brings them together. Exposure can tear them apart.

Taking off her clothes every night for the patrons of Hothouse Gentleman’s Club was never part of Ava Lureau's life plan, but the sleazy strip joint was the last place her powerful ex-boyfriend would think to look for her. A life on the run kept Ava safe…but lonely. So when a ruggedly sexy stranger shows up and a lap dance becomes more than another dollar in her G-string, she takes a chance.

Kade Gavin’s job is simple—capture his target and deliver her to the man who hired him. Nothing but a paycheck matters in Kade's bleak existence…until the enticing stripper with soft curves and a puzzling persona climbs into his bed--and under his skin.

Because I have stalker tendencies am curious. I found her website. Find out more about Lia here.

A few days ago

my soon to be Scarlet Rosette, FIRST DATE posted to The Wilder Rose Press’s ‘Coming Soon’ page. Needless to say, I was excited. This is one step closer to published, to my dream. *big happy sigh*

On the site, next to the title of the book, is a little counter that tells you how many times the link has been used.

Can you guess where this is going?

That day and the next, I became aware of the strength of one of my… personality quirks. Okay fine. I’m a bit neurotic.

So, you want to guess how many times I checked the site to see where my book fell in the number category? Really I couldn’t hazard a guess. I tried to keep it down to once every 30 minutes. Yeah, that bad.

I’ve taken a deep breath and I’m only checking once, maybe twice… (okay three times) a day.

I think when my book releases; I might need to be sedated.

So are any of you a little compulsive when it comes to checking out numbers and *gulp* sales? Or are you cool as a cucumber? And if you are cool as a cucumber, want to let me know how?

Monday's Pick-me-up

I usually don't do actors *ahem* but I'm making a exception here. This image helped to inspire the hero in my WIP.

Coming Soon

Yesterday my editor graciously let me know that FIRST DATE is on The Wilder Rose Press's Coming Soon page. It took a full minute for me to digest the words before I clicked to the site and There. It. Was.

FIRST DATE by Lynne Roberts <---- that's me!

From the acceptance letter, to signing the contract, to receiving my first edits, I've traveled further into the world of "I can't believe it's actually happening to me."

If you haven't guessed already, this is my first published work, but I've been writing in various genres for years. This seems unreal... but it's not. *sqeeee* (did you really think I'd get through this whole blog post without one tiny squee?)

Please, go check out the blurb and let me know what you think. : )

Thanks

~Lynne

Releasing Today! MIDNIGHT TREAT by Becca Simone

MIDNIGHT TREAT is a Scarlet Miniature Rose by Becca Simone.

If the cover intrigued me, the excerpt hooked and reeled me in:

From Wilder Rose Press:

It's mistaken identity gone erotically awry during a Halloween costume party.

Josh Panetti breaks into an apartment Halloween night, thinking he’s fulfilling the sexual fantasy of a woman he just met at a costume party. Instead, he’s broken into Cassie Snow’s place. Cassie immediately realizes his mistake—she’d seen him at the party with her sexy upstairs neighbor. She should tell him he has the wrong apartment and the wrong girl. But she’s always the wrong girl. Would it be so terrible to be the right girl for just one night?

Monday's Pick-me-up

You might recognize him as the header to my last blog. Ahem, there was a reason for that. ; )

Okay, it's my birthday tomorrow and so, I'll ask you to send me any links you might have to pictures of hot men for my Monday-Pick-me-up.I promise, you will be mentioned in the post. : )

Thanks

9/11

Today, is the anniversary of a terrorist attack on our country. Americans died on American soil. The horror of that still brings tears to my eyes. My sister woke me up that morning with a phone call. "We're under attack, turn on your television. We're under attack." I didn't quite believe her even as I saw the images myself. I couldn't quite take it in, even as I couldn't tear my eyes away from the television.

That gut-wrenching feeling of stunned horror will be with me forever but that's not what I'd like to write about today. I'd like to write talk about 9/12. On September 12, America woke up united. On that day there we were still in shock, but we were pissed and we weren't going to take it lying down. We flew our flags, suddenly remembering what they represented. We looked at our neighbors in a new light: countryman. All of those things we took for granted, life, libery, the pursuit of happiness, they became more precious because we knew somebody wanted to take them away.

On that day, we were American's first, no hypens, no politics: Americans and damn it, we were strong.

It should not take a tragedy to remind us that what we have in this country is precious, that millions around the world would fight and die to have it and millions more would fight and die to end it.

I am not advocating war or 'actions' as they seemed to be called now, but I am attempting to remind you of that feeling of unity, of pride in our country and the fragility of it.

I'd love for you to share where you were during 9/11.

Dear September:

You and I go way back, a mean waaay back. You were the first month I saw upon opening my eyes. But this year I have a bone to pick with you. No, it's not that whole 4.0. thing, I've kinda (more or less) made my peace with that.

It's bad enough we started out with a pinched nerve, I mean, okay, I had a ms to finish and brand new sparkly edits to attend to but okay, I'll spend the first week in a muscle-relaxer haze. We had plenty of time.

And then over Labor day weekend, just as the pain was receding enough for me to sit at the computer, the cold hit. I was still cool with it, even though I was sweating with fever, I mean these things happen.

But dude, now that the virus has moved to my lungs and the coughing aggravated the whole back spasm, pinched nerve thing, I just gotta cry foul. We're buds, what's up? I have a book to edit, kids, housework, blogs to write, blogs to read...

A. Book. To. Edit! Which I can not do in a drugged state! I've been working toward this for years, I do not need these kind of obstacles.

I've been patient, but how about cutting me a break?

K? Thanks,

Me

Monday's Pick-me-up

Back by popular demand... okay mine but still, at least I'm sharing. : )

Book Review: THE TRUST SHE YIELDS

It’s no secret that I’ve been a Jennifer Leeland fan since I first ‘picked up’ one of her books. I am delighted to say that each one I’ve read since has gotten better.

THE TRUST SHE YIELDS is a BDSM love story about Lee Sidle, a submissive who has been abused and since walked away from the lifestyle, and David Peters, the dom of all doms and the leader of the BDSM community. David is an old favorite from previous books and we get to see a few other beloved characters as well. The love story is at times hotter than you can handle but also heart-warming and tender. Can David control his lust long enough to heal the damage from Lee’s past? You will be rooting for a happy ever after.

Jennifer has done her research. She handles the BDSM lifestyle with respect and accuracy.

THE TRUST SHE YIELDS can be purchased at The Wilder Rose Press and check out Jennifer’s website and blog for more of her wonderful stories.

Contract

Is there any other word as sweet in a writer's life? Well, 'best seller' but that's two words. ; )

I just received the contract for my second Scarlet Rosette: AFTER HOURS. I will keep you all updated.

I'm still editing FIRST DATE, but I hope to have a blurb up soon.

I don't mind telling you all, I can't wait to see the cover.

Thanks for sharing this with me.
